Sweet Birch (Betula Alleghaniensis)

Sweet Birch is native to the USA. The wood under the bark (inner bark) is macerated and then steam distilled to produce almost an exact replica of wintergreen oil. Since it's primary constituent is methyl salicylate (similar to aspirin) the qualities are analgesic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic and blood cleanser. Do not use this oil during pregnancy.
